What are eyelash extensions?

Not to be confused with store-bought strip or cluster lashes, eyelash extensions offer a luxury beauty treatment performed in a professional salon setting. Single, synthetic lashes are adhered one by one onto each natural lash - never adhered to the skin. All services offered at LashPro Aesthetics are performed by trained and licensed professionals using exclusively professional-grade products.

What can I expect at my initial eyelash extension appointment?

We will start with a thorough consultation to understand your desired outcome. During the treatment you will lay comfortably in a reclined position with pillows and a blanket for your comfort. We play tranquil music to maintain a relaxing enviornment but also welcome the use of headphones if you prefer to listen to a podcast, audio book or your own music. Before the application begins we will gently cleanse your eyelids and eyelashes to ensure that all cosmetics, lotions, oils and other potential residues are removed from the area. Soothing under-eye gel pads are applied to cover your bottom eyelashes and hydrate your delicate under-eye skin. Medical paper tape may be applied to the gel pads and upper eyelids to further secure the pads. After the treatment is complete you will awake to beautiful, immediate results!

What type of lashes do you use?

At LashPro Aesthetics we house a large variety of faux mink lashes. Each set is unique and custom made just for you! Because we carry such a large variety of lashes, we are able to accomodate almost any lash style that you desire. We have lengths 6mm - 16mm. Curls B, C, D and L. Diameters .05, .07, .10, .12, .15, and .18. All of our products are of the highest quality and manufactured for professional use only.

What is the difference between mink, silk & synthetic/faux lash extensions?

Eyelash extension manufacturers label our products as mink and silk solely for marketing purposes. All eyelash extensions are made of synthetic materials unless the packaging is labeled as 100% genuine mink. Both faux mink and faux silk lashes are made of the exact same material known as PBT fibers. The only difference between faux silk and faux mink lashes are the way that they taper into a fine point - faux mink lashes tend to be slightly thinner at the tips, however, this varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. One thing remains true - faux silk and faux mink lashes are comprised of the exact same materials. PBT is superior to genuine mink because it is hypoallergienic, cruelty-free & vegan, rich in color, maintains its curl and offers a much larger variety of lenghts, curls and diameters.

How often should I be scheduling fill appointments?

We recommend you return every 2 - 3 weeks to maintain the appearance of your eyelash extensions. Proper at-home care may extend the wear of your lashes but do keep in mind that you must have at least 40% of your lash extensions remaining. Anything less than 40% coverage will require a full set.

What is a fill appointment?

Fill appointments are scheduled every 2 - 3 weeks to maintain the appearance of your eyelash extensions. Contrary to a full set, when you arrive for a fill appointment you will have extensions remaining from your most recent visit. We require that you have a minimum of 40% coverage remaining. Any extensions that are noticeably grown out will be removed without harming or affecting your natural lash and new lashes will be applied in the areas where previous lash extensions were shed or detached. Fill appointments typically require less time than full set appointments.

Will the lash extensions damage my natural lashes?

No, this will never happen at LashPro Aesthetics. All of our stylists are California state licensed cosmetologists and estheticians, properly trained and supervised by our Master Lash Artist and studio owner, Carlyn. Your natural eyelashes have a growth cycle just like the hair on your head. The typical human will shed 2-5 natural lashes per eye, per day. At an average of 3 lashes per day, you could shed 63 natural lashes per eye within a 3 week period of time. This shedding process becomes more noticeable when you begin wearing eyelash extensions, however, the extensions themselves are not causing your own lashes to fall. We carefully isolate each of your natural lashes when applying extensions. This allows us to truly adhere the lash extensions one at a time without disrupting the natural growth cycle of each natural lash. The most important thing that you must do at home to maintain the health of your natural lashes is CLEANSE YOUR EYELIDS DAILY. Cleansing properly will not ruin your lash extensions, it will prevent buildup and may even extend the wear of your lashes. Lash extensions should always be safe, comfortable and convienent!

Can I use an eyelash growth serum while wearing lash extensions?

Yes, as a matter of fact we encourage the use of eyelash growth serum to further maintain the health of your natural lash. We have found that prescription serums - such as Latisse - can often be too potent and may even cause irritation. Growth serums containing conditioning agents and nourishing ingredients, such as vitamins and peptides, are much better suited and just as effective. Our preferred growth serum is GrandeLash-MD by Grande Cosmetics - available in store at LashPro Aesthetics.

Can I wear makeup with my eyelash extensions?

Yes you can still wear makeup, however, we discourage the use of all waterproof eye makeup as it will bond to your extensions and break down the adhesive. You must always cleanse your eye area thoroughly after wearing makeup. This will extend the wear of your lash extensions but most importantly it will prevent buildup and keep your natural lashes strong & healthy. Here at LashPro Aesthetics we retail eyelash extension-safe mascaras, cosmetics and aftercare products.

Can I swim, shower or exercise while wearing lash extensions?

Yes absolutely. The bonding agent we use is waterproof and allows you to swim, shower and exercise as normal. Contrary to popular belief, it is not necessary to wait 24 hours before you wet your lashes. At LashPro Aesthetics we end each eyelash extension service with a fine mist of water over the eye area to cure the adhesive bonds. You will be able to fully submerge your lashes in water within minutes of your appointment.

How do I care for my eyelash extensions?

- CLEANSE YOUR EYELIDS DAILY: this is absolutely necessary to prevent buildup and maintain the health of your eyes and natural eyelashes -Use only eyelash extension-safe mascara -NO waterproof eyemakeup - only waterBASED - Use oil-free eye makeup remover -Do not rub, pick or pull eyes -Avoid exposure to extreme heat, steam and friction -Avoid using an eyelash curler -Sleep on your back as often as possible

How do I remove my lash extensions?

The safest and most effective way to remove the lashes is to schedule a removal service with one of our artists. During the removal service we will apply a professional-grade gel debonding solution to quickly and safely remove all traces of adhesive. The removal process can take anywhere from 15-30 minutes. We do not advise that you attempt to remove the lashes on your own. This may result in irriation, swelling and trauma to the natural eyelashes and/or follicles.

How should I prepare for my appointment?

If you are a first time guest, please arrive a few minutes early to allow time for paperwork and a consultation. Always thoroughly cleanse your eyes before arriving. Eyelash extensions will adhere best to freshly washed lashes and will give you longer lasting results! Avoid caffeine before your appointment - it is important that your eyes are relaxed during the service. Lastly, chewing gum and excessive talking will cause your eyes to flutter and may make it difficult for your artist to properly perform your eyelash service. This is your time to get comforable, relax and be pampered! Feel free to bring a pair of ear buds so that you can listen to an audiobook, podcast, guided meditation or your own music.
